Wavestore: licensed to succeed
The release of Wavestore's V5.30 video management software has provided an opportunity to introduce a major change to our licensing process.
Gone are the days when there was a requirement to apply for a licence for each viewing PC station, as well as specifying what features were required. "The new licensing system incorporated into V5.30 makes life much more straightforward and simpler for both users and installers to administer," said Wavestore's Director, Chris Williams. "It is now the Wavestore server and its feature set which is licensed. This means that when connected to a Wavestore server any viewing PC station is able to take advantage of all the licensed features."
The latest version of the Wavestore video management software, V5.30, incorporates a new licensing system designed to make life simpler for users and installers. It is now only necessary for a Wavestore server and its feature set to be licensed. This means that any viewing PC station, when connected to a Wavestore server, is automatically able to take advantage of all of the licensed features. Users will be able to download the client software onto additional or replacement PCs at no cost and without having to contact the installer.

V5.30 is also packed with a long list of other innovative and practical features which yet again demonstrate our ongoing commitment to constantly evolve our video management solutions for the benefit of our worldwide network of customers and business partners. Some of the key features of V5.30 are:
• Improved diagnostic function;
• GPS indication of the server location;
• MPEG4 support;
• Enhanced privacy/security - V5.30 can be configured to limit operators to view only a specific time frame of footage e.g.15 minutes;
• An extensive range of 180 and 360 degree panoramic cameras are now supported, including models manufactured by AMG Panogenics, Geovision, Mobotix, Oncam, Riva, Santec, Sentry 360 and Vivotek;
• V5.30 on-screen display offers multiple language options including Simplified Chinese and US English, as well as Arabic, Hindi, Italian, Romanian, Spanish and Turkish;
• Searchable server directory - V5.30 allows for servers to be named and quickly found via a directory. This feature will be particularly useful for wide server groups as the user will not need to remember all of the individual server names or IP addresses when looking to connect to them;
• Automatic forwarding of backup video clips when specific events occur - V5.30 can be configured to automatically and instantaneously forward to users video clips of pre-defined events such as intruder detection or camera failure, allowing users to react quickly and efficiently to any incidents;
• Improved backup capabilities - V5.30 allows an operator to select from the main window a start and end point of the footage that needs to be backed up, whilst continuing to monitor live images;
• Images captured by a panoramic camera which can been seen on the WaveView GUI when using the virtual PTZ function in a de-warped image, can now be backed up in a commercial format e.g. AVI, WMA, etc.
Demand for 360 degree cameras continues to grow and it is not surprising as they can substantially provide cost savings as a result of fewer cameras being needed for video surveillance projects in, for example, retail environments, airport security, manufacturing processes or public spaces.
Clients who invest in panoramic cameras from one of the above manufacturers can take advantage of the de-warping module that has been incorporated into Wavestore's VMS. This records the original fisheye images captured by a panoramic camera and simultaneously displays the locally de-warped images created by the Wavestore software as well as images from other network and analogue cameras in a multi-image display.
Operators are able to effortlessly ‘move' throughout the 360 degree images either with a conventional joystick or a 3-axis mouse, or it can be set to pan like a continual PTZ. There is also an option to overlap the whole image in a panoramic view. Most importantly, whatever the operator does, the original images captured by the cameras are stored unaltered so that specific video data can be presented and verified in a court of law if required.
