DORI stands for Detect, Observe, Recognize, and Identify.
What is DORI and how can it help you select the right
security camera for your CCTV needs? Great question! And you've come to the
right place. In this video, we walk you through DORI distances and help you
figure out how to use this specification in your own video surveillance
planning.
DORI stands for Detect, Observe, Recognize, and Identify.
This is a standard that allows us to compare the visibility of different
cameras. By comparing DORI distances, we can determine which cameras are a
better fit for what we're looking for. If we want to be able to recognize faces
or license plates from a distance, for instance, we'll want to find a camera
that has a "Recognize" distance similar to what we're looking for.
DORI distances are determined by the amount of Pixels Per
Meter (PPM) in the image. A camera with a lower resolution or a shorter focal
length will have shorter DORI distances than a higher resolution, more zoomed
in security camera. In this video, we show you how this works out in practice
by comparing the DORI numbers of two varifocal cameras, one at a 1080p
resolution and one at a 4K resolution.
