HID Global's HDP5000 is the ideal solution for governments, corporations and universities
HID Global, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, recently announced it has launched its enhanced FARGO HDP5000 High Definition Printer/Encoder, the industry’s most popular, reliable and cost-effective solution for retransfer printing at CARTES Asia in Hong Kong. Featuring the company’s fifth generation of High Definition Printing (HDP) technology, the enhanced HDP5000 now includes an expanded feature set and is the ideal solution for government, corporations and universities looking to cost-effectively produce quality IDs requiring colour printing, card encoding and holographic security features on different technology cards.
The HDP5000 printer/encoder now features a new and brighter OLED graphical display that is capable of displaying a wide variety of different languages for use in emerging and mature markets throughout the world.  For increased productivity, the HDP5000 also features increased card throughput speeds of up to 150 cards per hour and now includes an optional dual card input hopper allowing for automatic switching between two different card types. For security-conscious applications, security is further enhanced with AES256 encryption and an option to erase data from resin print ribbons after a card has been printed.  On the GSA list for FIPS 201 Approved Products, the HDP5000 is also designed to help federal agencies comply with emerging federal secure identification directives and standards such as HSPD-12, FIPS 201 and PIV.

"With this enhanced HDP5000 solution, HID Global has renewed our commitment to our customers"

“With this enhanced HDP5000 solution, HID Global has renewed our commitment to our customers by making what has been the best product of its class even more efficient, easier to use and better suited to the various government, corporate and university ID programs around the world,” said Alan Fontanella, vice president of product marketing for Secure Issuance with HID Global. “Unique additions like the dual card hopper for instance, result in greater efficiency for our customers who, like the U.S. Department of Defense, can now simultaneously print to both smart chip cards needed for active military personnel and also to the non-technology cards needed for retirees and family members.”
For over 14 years, HDP technology has led the industry in reliability, affordability and versatility for a wide range of customers worldwide:
  • For government and federal customers, the HDP5000 meets the high security demanded for employee and contractor badges as illustrated by its continued adoption with the U.S. Department of Defense.  It is also ideal for the issuance of drivers’ licenses and national IDs as demonstrated by the number of governments throughout Asia who have chosen the HDP5000, and deployed several hundred to more than 1,000 units in each of their respective ID programs.
  • Large businesses such as Korea’s two retail giants Home Plus and E-Mart, the HDP5000 was selected for implementing streamlined issuance of their customer loyalty cards.
  • With the demand for multi-functional student cards on the rise; hundreds of universities worldwide utilize the HDP5000 to issue student ID cards that can be used for physical access to buildings, logical access to networks, library checkout and other services, as well as cashless and debit card transactions on and off campus.
